Just Sitting Causes Muscle Fatigue
π¨βπ» The act of “working in front of a computer” itself includes elements that fatigue various muscles. Everyday tasks such as “sitting in a chair, looking at the screen, typing keys, and operating a mouse” involve multiple muscles working simultaneously, with some muscles tensing to maintain posture.
π£ To maintain posture, if tension persists in some muscles, blood flow decreases, leading to body misalignment and resulting in discomfort such as shoulder and lower back pain.
Key points for improving discomfort during desk work:
πΆββοΈ To relax tense and stiff muscles, it’s essential to take breaks from work, stretch, stand up, and walk a little. Moving the body is crucial. Taking a break from sitting and stimulating the taxed muscles is beneficial.
π₯ Even if the desk, computer, and chair are in what is considered the correct position, and even if ideal posture is maintained during desk work, muscle fatigue occurs when sitting posture is repeated day after day. The longer the duration of strain, the higher the likelihood of experiencing chronic discomfort such as shoulder and lower back pain.
π While aligning the spine, incorporating regular stretching and rest helps regulate bodily discomfort.
